Frequently Asked QuestionsEar pain in children
Dr. Sheelu Srinivas Staff asked 12 months ago

Earache is a common and unpleasant symptom of childhood.

Most of the childhood earache is due to middle ear effusion or fluid post colds.

Most ear infections are viral and need supportive treatment like oral pain control and saline nose drops.

Place your child in an upright position with pillows.

Don’t let you child drink from a bottle while lying down position.

Never poke any object into the ear (like cotton buds) as they often pack the wax tighter and can damage the ear.

Meet your child’s doctor for otoscopy or ear check up

If there is blood stained discharge or child is very distressed-go to nearby emergency.
